Step 1 of 5
Simple Present Tense
Used for habits, facts, and routines. Form: Subject + base verb (add -s/-es for he/she/it). Examples: "I work every day." "She works in an office." "The sun rises in the east."
- Remember the -s ending for third person singular
- Use for universal truths and facts
Step 2 of 5
Present Continuous/Progressive
Used for actions happening now or temporary situations. Form: Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing. Examples: "I am studying right now." "They are working on a project." "She is living in Paris this year."
- Use time markers like "now", "at the moment"
- Not used with stative verbs (know, love, etc.)

Present Perfect
Used for past actions with present relevance. Form: Subject + have/has + past participle. Examples: "I have lived here for 5 years." "She has finished her homework." "We have visited Spain."
- Common with "for", "since", "already", "yet"
- Focuses on the result, not when it happened

Present Perfect Continuous
Used for actions that started in the past and continue now, emphasizing duration. Form: Subject + have/has been + verb-ing. Examples: "I have been studying for 3 hours." "It has been raining all day."
- Emphasizes the duration of an ongoing action
- Often used with "How long...?"
